Future place for Draft 2
Draft 1
My greatest skill is film editing. I didn’t even realize I had this talent but in seventh grade my class team was making a documentary on human health and I was selected to be one of the editors for the documentary. I was kind of interested beforehand in editing because I had started my own youtube channel and wanted to learn this new skill but wasn’t too sure how I would like it. To my surprise I really enjoyed it and found that I was pretty good at it too.
At first I started with searching info online and used a program called EZVid. I soon realized that the program was limiting my creativity so I had to get something else and found a better software from Microsoft. I used this software to edit all the footage from my first trip to Joshua Tree National Park. I was also able to use it to create a video for my physics class to post on my digital portfolio. After this I still felt like I was being limited again so I found another program called HitFilm 4 Express and there was a huge learning curve because there weren't any preset film effects and I had to learn to create them completely on my own.
Over time I have worked on many personal projects mainly on film footage from my outdoor leadership training class trips to different national parks. I love it because I’m very much of an outdoors kind of person so I get to relive my many adventures when I edit the footage. This also allows me to be able to share my experiences with others and they can see my trips directly through my eyes. I definitely see this as something I want to pursue more in depth and possibly as a lifelong career. Possibly even getting into both filming and directing in the near future.
